I am unsure if Alfred S. Campbell had anything to do with Campbell Printing Press and Manufacturing Plant. I have found a few connections.

Who May Know Alfred S. Campbell...Campbell Art Co.

Back in 1892 the Campbell Art company employed over 300 people, when it was rebuilt the company grew.
Alfred S. Campbell Art Company distributed their postcards, stereoviews, calendars, cards, fineart prints, etc. all over the country and at least in England; employing numerous salesman, artists, photographers and later, authors of verse, etc.
The Campbell Studio also employed many.
Montauk Photographic Co. & Landon, Kent & Co. also employed many.
Not to mention the stockholders....

Someone must know someone who knew or worked for this man!!!

Famous Photographer in England at the time. I assume they met!

According to 1880 census, only Florence, Arthur and Lottie, were at school this year. The other family members were “at home”

When Alfred S. Campbell died his obituary claims he left a wife, son and only 3 daughters. I believe, Minnie passed and I am not sure which other daughter did not survive. Isabella died two years after Alfred.

Alfred S. Campbell made his home in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Last known(of Annie, widow) at 554 Madison Ave., Elizabeth, NJ.
In 1921 listing, Campbell Art Co. Art Printers were at 1144 Elizabeth Ave., Elizabeth, NJ, and son Arthur P. Campbell owned or worked for an ad agency at 546 Madison Ave., NY

HI all! I am looking to gather information on Alfred S. Campbell (1840-1912) photographer and entrepreneur. He worked in England before coming to this country in 1866 with Napoleon Sarony, to run Sarony & Co. He then started Alfred S. Campbell Art Company, Elizabeth NJ, also known as AS Campbell Art Co.; Campbell Art Company, Campbell Art Factory, Campbell Picture factory, etc. He also partnered with Francis Price in Price & Campbell, NY, then opened Campbell Studios NY with Rudolf Eickemeyer, later Morand. He later bought into Montauk Photographic Manufacturing Co. (Trenton, NJ) and Landon, Kent & Co. (WVA, MD). I believe Campbell Studio NY was also expanded to other cities.
His companies were some of the largest in the country.

I am looking for information on the man, his family, his businesses, his work as a photographer, his patents, anything put out by his companies, info on his employees ( in 1896 Campbell Art factory employed over 300 people!), etc.
